Maggie Choo’s Bangkok

Maggie Choo’s

Maggie Choo’s is the latest venture by Thonglor’s Nightlife baron Ash Sutton, known for his out-of-the-box high concept venues such as Iron Fairies, Mr. Jones, Five and The Bookshop with Bed Supperclub’s founder and Creative Director, Sanya Souvanna Phouma.
Located in the basement of Novotel Fenix on Silom road, just a few blocks from the Chao Phraya River, Maggie Choo’s is an authentic Thai-Chinese restaurant serving street food staples and nibbles, which connects to a derelict 19th century East India Company depot converted into a cocktail bar and cabaret which provides live jazz acts along with dance music and adorned with a crew of stylized Asian female models, posing or acting, thickening the mysterious Far Eastern vibe that transpires from the atmosphere.
Maggie Choo’s caters to discerning guests who are looking to be entertained in style and in a surprising environment, which embraces the best of past and modern forms of divertissement.
Our Review
When you get down the wooden stairs at Maggie Choo’s you can immediately feel another ambiance and that you are stepping in a very special place… Welcome to the very magic world of Maggie Choo’s. You’ll have the feeling that you have lost yourself in a movie tournage decor of a big adventure movie production.
The restaurant looks like an old chinese auberge from the past…the food here is delicious; presentation is simple yet very original.
We had the Egg Noodle with Roasted Red Pork, Crispy Roasted Pork and Boiled Egg Served with Soup and Steamed Dory Served with Stir Fried Wide Rice Noodle in Dark Soy Sauce, and it was a blast of flavor.
Go through the second door and discover the bar with its colonial era comptoir decor. At 9pm, enjoy a mini show with models in traditional Chinese Qipao. When the show ends, they will then take place all around the area as a “live decor” and make a very unique ambiance with their fans and bubbles…
Drinks prices varies from B 200 for a beer to 2000 for Champagne, through “not to miss” signatures cocktails between B 280-350.
Cocktails are made with loads of flavours, try the Lady Flora a blend of Vodka, Lemon Juice and Sauvignon Blanc topped with Candy Floss. Like it more fruity? Go for the Haymarket Hector a perfect mix of white rum, pomegranate, molasses and sparkling wine.
Verdict:
Maggie Choo’s is definitely one of the best bars in Bangkok with an impressive decoration and choice of cocktails, the models make the plus and really gives a special ambiance. We really loved the food there, the taste can easily compete with five star chinese restaurant in Hong Kong.
